The innovative curriculum encourages children to be actively involved in the learning process. Language, art, science and music are woven into a network of learning activities. The program is designed to enhance all aspects of a young child's development. The main areas are social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical.

The warm, supportive family environment at St. Mark's provides stability and fosters a child's self-esteem. The curriculum actively engages families. Throughout a child's attendance at St. Mark's, the staff continuously documents individual progress and records these collections in a portfolio, which is shared twice annually in conferences conducted with the families.

St. Mark's in the Valley Day School was founded in 1976 by three Albuquerque residents as a special place for children where learning is fun. Nestled in Albuquerque's historic and picturesque North Valley, the school was architecturally designed by one of the founders to give young children a feeling of being "at home".

The physical environment encourages optimal growth and development by providing opportunities for exploration and learning at each child's individual pace. The detail of the door handles, bookshelves, sinks, and cabinets are scaled for children. The large play area features a tunnel and a tower for children to see the trains as they pass by the school.
